The service

CheckerVIN provides vehicle history reports compiled from third-party records — state title systems, insurance and auction filings, and NHTSA safety data. Reports are free and delivered to the email address you provide.

What a report is — and isn't

A report reflects records as reported to our data sources at the time it is generated. Events that were never reported will not appear. A report is information to support your decision; it is not a guarantee of a vehicle's condition and not a substitute for an independent mechanical inspection or a title check with your state DMV.

Acceptable use

Use the service to research vehicles — buying, selling, or maintaining them. Don't scrape the site, resell reports, or attempt to use vehicle data to identify or locate private individuals. We may rate-limit or block usage that looks automated or abusive.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, CheckerVIN disclaims all warranties and is not liable for decisions made in reliance on a report. Records originate with third parties, and their completeness varies by state and source.
